German Extra Hardy

Outside skin is ivory-white, but the clove skin is dark-red. This garlic has a strong raw flavor and a high sugar content, and is considered one of the very best varieties for roasting. As its name suggests, this Porcelain-type is a cold-hardy variety that is a dependable producer. Hardneck, 4-7 cloves per bulb.

 

German Extra Hardy can withstand very cold winters—as well as wet, warm winters—better than many other varieties. Long roots prevent frost heaving. An excellent keeper, German Extra Hardy will store easily for 6 months if handled properly after harvest.
